Why?!?

Just a bit of self-flagellation - why did I decide to start getting healthy, losing weight and going to the gym right before the holiday season? I mean seriously - did I really think that I could fore go the eggnog, candy canes, chocolate, carb-loaded foods that are popular during this season. And NO, an extra 15 minutes on the treadmill doesn't make up for it all.

Oh well, as long as I don't gain ...

Christmas isn't just one day ...

In between Christmases here.

Christmas #1 - traveled to Philipsburg, PA to visit my Father's side of the family. 30 people were there - from Aunts and Uncles all the way down to the littlest of the second cousins. People I haven't seen for months - but can pick up like it was yesterday that we were chatting and laughing. And the foods - oh, the wonderful, slovak foods. Foods that I don't make and wouldn't even dare try. But I LOVE them - pugach, pierogies, bobulki. Then the best part - the gifts - for those that matter - the little ones. It is amazing in the hustle and bustle of daily life, that a small pack of playing cards and a quilted purse can put the biggest joy in the hearts of the little ones. I want to be able to bottle up that happiness and drink from it every time things get tough. Watching my two little ones brought back so many memories from my own childhood. Of going to Grandma's, playing with the cousins, waiting patiently for the food to be served, and then waiting again - patiently - for the women to get the dishes done. The love and happiness that filled that small house was the greatest gift I ever received.

Christmas #2 - DB Brian and DBIL Rico in Harrisburg for a quick stay. They traveled with us to Philipsburg, and then on Sunday we celebrated Christmas in Harrisburg. Again, the food. But this time, a dish that I love to cook, and only during the Christmas and New Year time. Mushroom sauerkraut soup. This is to die for. And not really an acquired taste - you either love it (LOVE IT!!) or you can't stand it. There is no in between. And more gifts - this time for everyone!

And now waiting for Christmas #3. The actual day - when Santa arrives and the Baby Jesus is added to the manger. The day we stay in our pjs, eat lots of cookies and even more pasta. A day of satisfaction that all is well in the world. The day of thanks - that our family is healthy, happy, and loved.

Day 1 - Am I cut out for technology?

My first foray into blogging. What in the world do I have to say that you might want to read about? I should be cleaning, I should be creating, I should be planning dinner.

Welcome to my everyday world......................................
